HELP CPI PROMOTE PAPERWORKS

BRAND NEW DESIGN AND TECHNOLOGY RESOURCE FOR 11 -14 YEARS NOW AVAILABLE

PaperWorks is an exciting award winning multimedia schools resource from the UK Paper Industry.

PAPERWORKS PACKS 1&2

Paper Loop

Paper is all around us and provides fantastic teaching and learning opportunities for both single lessons and thematic approaches.

We’ve created two whiteboard-friendly presentations, one for infants and one for juniors. Both are ready to use in class, straight off the web. They come complete with short video clips and some simple interactive activities.

The infant presentation leads with Art and Design, whilst the junior one covers Science and Technology. In both, children explore how paper is made and are introduced to the important topics of recycling and sustainability.

You’ll find the supporting teaching notes and classroom worksheets are designed to be very flexible. Teachers can pick and mix as they like, fitting short elements into existing lesson plans or working towards a themed approach.

PAPERWORKS PACK 3

Paper manufacturing is an excellent example of
how a major industry operates in a sustainable
manner. We’ve developed a highly flexible set of
teaching and learning materials, centred on a whiteboard-friendly presentation. It’s ready to use
in class and includes short video clips and simple interactive activities.
Reels of Paper

The resource shows how efficiency in water and energy use in paper production is maximised through the use of water recycling and modern Combined Heat and Power technology.
Students investigate the key elements of paper manufacturing and watch interviews with
professionals working at one of the UK’s major paper mills. They discover how the industry’s ‘water footprint’ is identified and measured and look at how energy use is controlled.

We’ve created an online study area to help students with their research and provided
some ideas for investigative projects which can be adapted to be relevant for any
teaching level.

PAPERWORKS PACK 4

Recovered Paper

Students investigate the key elements of paper manufacturing and watch interviews with professionals working at one of the UK’s major paper mills.

They discover the paper business cycle and the relationship between paper life and the supply chain.

We’ve created an online study area to help students with their research and provided some ideas for investigative projects which are relevant for most 14-16 and post-16 Business Studies courses.

PAPERWORKS PACK 5

Aimed at pupils aged 11-14 (KS3), the new Design and Technology for Corrugated Cardboard Packaging module challenges young people to respond to a choice of realistic packaging briefs, by creating a logo and brand, then designing a packaging solution based on the shelf-ready packaging (SRP) requirements now being demanded by many customers of the Corrugated Industry.

Students are invited to enter  their packaging designs into a competition with prizes for both them and their school.
