Traffic Segregation on-site Plan
This 'good practice' document has been prepared by a Member company. The main purpose of the document is to show how one company addressed the issue of effectively segregating pedestrians and vehicles, which other companies may find useful when undertaking or reviewing transport risk assessments. It contains some excellent pictorial examples and site plans.
This checklist is intended as a guide to indicate the areas that employers should look at when:
(a) trying to identify the hazards associated with vehicle activities; and
(b) assessing whether existing precautions are adequate or whether more precautions are needed.

General Transport Assessment
This provide information on 'Safe loading, transport and unloading'
For as little as £600 you could have control of vehicle movement in and out of your unloading area. As a result of an initial risk assessment into traffic control, carried out by the depot supervisor, that is how much it cost Severnside Recycling, Keynsham depot.
The risk assessment (word) and case study (word) shows how they identified the initial problem and what they did to resolve it.

HSE/Freight Transport Association Advice Centre
The HSE and the Freight Transport Association (FTA) have opened a new workplace transport safety advice centre designed specifically to give information and advice on all aspects of workplace transport safety.
The dedicated advice centre number is (0870 099 0099) open between 9am and 5pm, Monday to Friday. FTA transport advisors will be on hand to give guidance and advice.
